Storage Conditions
Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.
Humidity: The effects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the effects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.
Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.
The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

Great Product
I love Thrive Life FD Sour Cream. I love regular, fresh sour cream but it is so hard to eat an entire carton of it I rarely have it in the house, and when I buy it for a recipe some of it undoubtably goes to waste. Thrive Life FD Sour Cream is always handy for cooking and makes great sauces. I don't want to scoop it up on a tortilla chip by itself, but it is a great product.

I don't like it
I'll try it for cooking or baking, but I don't like it cold.
I added lemon, but the texture and aftertaste made me feel a little queasy. It's not very nice.
Possibly it'll be okay as a thickener, or in a cheese sauce, etc. but I wouldn't be putting this in a chip dip, or on a baked potato.
It's not HORRIBLE. But it's too different to enjoy as sour cream.Quality

Not too impressed!!
As everyone else has said, it lacks tanginess and has an after taste. I added some fresh lemon juice and it improved it a bit. I would suggest ordering just a pouch at first. This can be used successfully in baking, (sour cream chocolate cake). I don't think I could ever get used to the taste on baked potatoes. I used it to make a "mock cream cheese frosting" for a carrot cake and you couldn't tell that it was not cream cheese...so I guess that is a positive!

I am impressed ! Thrive to the rescue !
I wasn't a huge fan of the mild flavor when making this as stand alone sour cream topping or dip. Good, but mild, not tangy as everyone noted. But this weekend I had stroganoff boiling and ready to add the final tub of sour cream, when I opened it the foil was tampered/open and down inside the sour cream! I panicked and then remembered my Thrive Sour Cream. I put 2/3 cup in a little water, stirred and added it to the stroganoff. My husband raved about the save! This is his favorite meal and we both loved the flavor. So think outside of using this as cold, fresh sour cream. It is wonderful as an ingredient in cooking!

Very Surprised at the Taste!
I wish I could say I was suprised in a good way, but I was not. The texture after adding the water was a bit different than I thought it would be and the taste was way different! I'm glad I only bought a pouch and didn't spend money on anything bigger. However, it was a good addition to the compost pile!

Convenient
As a sour cream it's alright. It lacks that distinct flavor you get with the real thing. I tried adding some lemon juice but it wasn't enough to mimic the tanginess of store bought. I'll keep experimenting with adding a bit more lemon juice and see what happens. As an afterthought, it tasted more like cream cheese and had the same consistency after refrigerating overnight. It works pretty well on toasted bagels! I will try adding in some fruit to add variety as well and plan to try cooking with it also. It's definitely handy to be able to make exactly what you need when you need it, no more throwing store bought away because it went bad before you finished it off.

Perfect for putting on Tacos!
I love this stuff! I realized while in the midst of making dinner that I didn't have any sour cream for our tacos, and although I was a little skeptical about using it, and whether or not it would work, I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted wonderful, and was perfect for dinner that night.

Amazing product
This product is amazing and I actually like the taste better than fresh sour cream. I'll probably use it instead of fresh sour cream.

Great for Recipes
I made this up for the red pepper dip recipe a few weeks ago, and it is really tasty. No, it isn't tangy like the "real" thing, but this product is great to have for last minute recipe ideas that calls for sour cream. I plan to keep this on hand for that purpose.

Reduce the water!
You really have to use equal parts water to mix to make it turn out right. I used ice cold water and it worked better than my first attempt. The flavor is a little off but worked pretty well for the tacos and burritos I made. I can see where it would be a great thickener for soups etc. I will try more things with it.

Made into cream cheese spreads
I made the sour cream mix into cream cheese and it was great on crackers or mini bagels.
Recipe :
1/2 cup water
2 cups sour cream mix
Juice from one med.lemon
Dash of salt or to taste
Whip with hand mixer: the water, dash of salt and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. I added all of the lemon juice but you might want to add as you taste-same with salt. When it was to my taste -I chilled it for about an hour or so. Then divided the cream cheese and added Thrive Fruit that I made into powder in the blender into one batch the other plain.
I had my family try them. They said they were great!Quality

High calorie count. Have to add more powder than instructions call for if you don't want it "soupy". Taste really good though.

Sour Cream great for single household
I am the only one at home now and I love the fact that I can mix up as little or as much as I want. When I buy sour cream at the store it always goes bad before I can get it used up. With the powder I just mix it up as I need it. I do use a a little less water than the instructions call for and I use warm water. I feel it mixes a little better, then I always chill it for several hours or over night. I think it tastes like the real deal. Love it.

taquito dip
We use sour cream powder to make dip for chicken taquitos. Just mix in a little salsa and presto ~ it tastes amazing! It does have more of a cream cheese taste to it, which I absolutely love.

Not as tart as I'd like
I love almost all the Shelf Reliance products, but I'm a little disappointed in the sour cream. It doesn't have a tart taste, so to me it's good for adding texture and body to a dish, but not for adding any particular sour cream flavor.

For Cooking Only
This works great in baking but I did not care for the flavor as a topping. My husband however loved it and stated that it reminded him of a fast food location.

Once you use it you won't go back to the store!
Honestly, I use it in cooking as well as topping for taco's, burritos etc. You have to chill it first before you use it as a topping. My husband, Mr. Picky loves it!!

Love it
I enjoy having this around when needed for recipes. Now this isn't the normal sour cream you use as topping, this is strickly for cooking purposes and I have used it a bunch. The smell of it is a bit different, Im new to food storage so I didn't expect that smell. But this product worked great in my recipes. I would recommend this product.

It's great always having sour cream on hand rather than having to make a trip to the grocery store when I need it for a recipe.
